Garage Door Off-Track Repair

A door that's jumped its track is jammed, crooked, and unsafe to force. We secure it, find why it derailed, and put it back on track the right way.

Garage Door Off-Track Repair — WeFix Garage Doors

When a garage door comes off its track it can end up wedged in the opening, hanging at an angle, or stuck partway with your car boxed in. It's alarming — and it's one repair where forcing the door almost always makes the damage worse. WeFix Garage Doors safely re-tracks doors across Jacksonville, addressing the root cause so it doesn't happen again.

Why doors come off the track

  • A broken cable let one side of the door drop
  • Worn or broken rollers slipped out of the track
  • A bent or misaligned track pulled the door out of line
  • Impact from a vehicle or bump against the door
  • Loose track brackets that shifted over time

Please don't run the opener

Operating an off-track door drags panels, bends tracks further, and can snap cables — turning a contained problem into a replaced section. Disconnect the opener with the red release cord if you can safely reach it, leave the door where it is, and call us.

How we put it right

We support the door's weight, ease it back into alignment, and inspect the parts that caused the derailment — cables, rollers, hinges, and the tracks themselves. We replace what's damaged and re-square the tracks so the door runs true. If a panel was creased in the process, we'll show you and lay out the options.

Questions

Off-Track Repair FAQs

Why did my garage door come off its track?
Usually a broken cable, failed rollers, a bent track, or an impact. One side dropping while the other holds is a classic sign of a snapped cable. We identify the cause during the repair so it's a lasting fix, not a temporary one.
Can I put the door back on the track myself?
We don't recommend it. The door is heavy and, if a cable broke, the springs may still hold tension. Re-tracking without securing the door can cause it to fall. It's a quick job for us with the right support tools.
Will my door be okay after it came off the track?
Often yes — if it's caught early. Rollers, cables, and tracks are repairable. The main risk is panel damage from forcing a jammed door, which is exactly why we ask you not to operate it once it's derailed.
Is this an emergency?
It can be, especially if your car is trapped or the door won't secure. We offer 24/7 service — call 904-479-6747 and we'll prioritize getting you back to normal.
